Privacy policy
Platen is built so that your documents stay with you. This page explains exactly what happens to your files and what information, if any, we receive.
Your files
Everything Platen does to a document happens inside your web browser, on your own device. When you open a PDF or image:
- It is read into your browser's memory and never sent to us or anyone else.
- The scanned result is created on your device and saved straight to your downloads.
- Nothing is stored after you close the tab.
What is stored in your browser
- Your last-used scan settings, so the next session starts where you left off. This uses your browser's local storage and contains no document content. Clearing your site data removes it.
- A copy of the Platen app itself (pages, fonts and code), so it opens quickly and works offline.
Analytics, cookies and tracking
Platen sets no cookies and loads no advertising or tracking scripts. To see how many people visit and which pages they use, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, does not use your IP address to identify you, does not follow you across sites, and never sees your documents. It records only basic page visits, such as the page address, referring site, country and browser type.
All other fonts and code are served from platen.page itself.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider may briefly keep standard request logs (such as IP address, the page requested and the time) to keep the service secure and running. These logs never include your documents, because your documents are never sent.
